Takk for turen!
Since November, a particularly interesting commercial has been played on the norwegian movie theaters and it has caught the attention of many people. Most norwegians express a big feeling of pride and patriotism when they comment the commercial and some say that it expresses the best part of living in Norway. As a foreigner, I think it represents in a nutshell the reason why foreign people fall in love with the country in the first place and I have to confess that it makes my tearducts go wet each time I see this commercial. It reminds us of why the national anthem of Norway is called "Ja, vi elsker dette landet!" ("Yes, we love this land!").
Curiously, it is a commercial for celebrating the 70 years jubileum of a popular chocolate brand (Kvikk Lunsj), that most people take on tours through the nature. The title of the short movie is called "Takk for turen" ("Thanks for the tour") and it ends up with the the sentence: "To all who make it possible, thanks for the tour" (referring to the people of the National Tourist Association who voluntarily prepare tracks in nature for tours, and who are represented in the movie). The music is a song called "Safe Travels" from the band Peter & the Wolves (an american band from Austin, Texas).
